The hotel has excellent facilities as members who have attended the Annual Dinner Dances will be able to confirm.

Beware of the speed humps in the private driveway to the hotel. The car park has ample space for cars and bikes.

Durham Advanced Motorcyclists (DAM) is a registered charity, non-profit making organisation, affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). Our group has around 250 members at present and is growing continually.
Durham Advanced Motorcyclists was formed in 1994 with just 15 members and its aim has always been to improve road safety for motorcyclists in Co. Durham.

Today we have around 250 members, with the group still going from strength to strength. Our members are of all ages, come from all walks of life and ride all sorts of bikes, such as sports replicas, tourers, sports tourers, custom and cruisers.

The main focus of the group is to improve your standard of riding to an advanced level through comprehensive training with our observers. DAM is actively supported by the Durham Constabulary and many of our observers have been trained by Durham Police Motorcyclists.

Research has shown that Advanced Motorcyclists are between 3 and 5 times less likely to have an accident. You may well be a good rider but our training will make you a much safer and smoother rider than you already are. You will be taught how to ride to the IAM’s book "How to be a better rider"

Monthly Meetings
You will also see we have a very active social scene that hopefully caters for everyone. We meet at 7.30pm on the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at the Bowburn Hall Hotel, Bowburn, Durham, where you'll be made more than welcome. There is a large room set aside for us and meals are available. We have guest speakers at most meetings during the winter months and have ride outs or fish and chip runs in the summer.
