How Do I Go About Taking The IAM Advanced Test?

The best way to take the IAM Advanced Test (and with the greatest degree of success) is to go through one of the many  IAM Groups such as The Durham Advanced Motorcyclists. This is an ideal way to prepare for the test because we know precisely what the examiner is expecting and can prepare you for it.

• Associate Membership of Durham Advanced Motorcyclists.
• One to one observed runs to prepare you for the IAM Test.
• The IAM Advanced Test.
• Your First Years Membership of the IAM after passing the Advanced Test.

I've Heard This Sort Of Thing Can Be Expensive!

You may have heard figures in the order of £200, £300 or even more. However, don't believe what people tell you.

You can pass the IAM Advanced Test and become an Advanced Rider and a Member of the IAM for considerably less. Most insurance companies offer a 10% discount for having passed  your IAM test. Full Membership of the Durham Advanced Motorcyclists costs just £5.00 per year and full membership of IAM is just £28.00 by direct debit per year.

Why Should I Bother?

Research has shown that riders who have passed their advanced test are 3 to 5 times less likely to have an accident. That sort of improvement alone should be enough to convince you. Your riding experience will be so much more enjoyable as will that of your pillion passenger!
